The Portland Foundation contributes $250,000
The Portland Foundation Board Chair, Dean Jetter, and Portland Pool Fundraising Chair, John Young announced today that The Portland Foundation has pledged $250,000 to go towards the $1,000,000 goal that has been set for the Pool Fundraising Campaign. In announcing the gift Dean Jetter said, “A new pool is an important quality of life item that is sorely needed by our community. We are proud to be in a position to step forward in this manner.” John Young expressed deep appreciation by noting, “This significant commitment means a great deal as the Campaign Cabinet approaches the kick-off for the campaign in the community. Hopefully, it will set an example that will inspire other groups and individuals to be generous as we face the challenge of reaching the $1,000,000 goal of the campaign.” Doug Inman, executive director of The Portland Foundation, said the organization’s contribution to the new pool is the largest gift it has ever given to a community project. The community foundation, which aims to enhance the quality of life for current and future Jay County residents, is also the headquarters for the campaign. The board of directors felt it was important to donate to the project because the new facility will help make Portland a better community and it will serve future Jay County residents, said Inman. “The fact that this is a once-in-a-generation project was factored into the size of the gift,” he said.
