2009 Lilly Endowment Scholarship Recipients
In 2009, Adam Garringer and Mason Murphy were selected as the Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship recipients.
Adam is the son of Carmen Garringer and Mike Garringer and resides in Portland. He attends Hanover University and is studying Business. Adam was ranked #13 in his class with a 3.98 GPA. He was a member of the National Honor Society, basketball team (where he was varsity captain), football team, golf team, Jay Today Staff, student council, Youth for Christ and was a senior mentor.
Mason is the son of Mitch and Anna Murphy and lives in rural Bryant. He attends Notre Dame University and is studying Biological Sciences. Mason was ranked #1 in his class with a 4.03 GPA. He was a member of the National Honor Society, FFA (where he received his state degree and was co-chair of the recruitment committee and on the soil judging team), a member of Campus Life, German Club, Key Club, student council (where he was sergeant at arms), president of the student exchange club, member of the wrestling team, junior leaders, boys state, National Merit Scholar semi-finalist, and a Bausch and Lomb Science Award recipient.
